Trip to Imst in Tyrol, September 3rd-8th

Day 1:
Finally I found the time to write the report about my trip to Imst, Tyrol. We arrived there in the late afternoon, got our rooms and had a nice welcome dinner in the evening. This was the view from my hotel window.

Endlich habe ich mir die Zeit genommen um über meinen Ausflug nach Imst in Tirol zu berichten. 
Wir kamen am späten Nachmittag an und hatten am Abend ein nettes Begrüßungsessen. Das war der Ausblick aus meinem Hotelfenster.

Day 2:

The Sunday morning began with a cozy drive in a slow train, called Bummelbaer, through the neighbour villages Tarrenz and Nassereith. We went through a lot of forests with fresh air to breathe, came across a very clear lake with fishers enjoying their catches and admired the inside of a church.

Der Sonntagmorgen begann mit einer Fahrt im Bummelbär durch die Nachbarortschaften Tarrenz und Nassereith. Wir fuhren durch Wälder, wo die frische Luft zum Durchatmen einlud, kamen an einen klaren See, wo gefischt wurde und bewunderten das Innere einer Kirche.

In the afternoon we went outside of Imst to an Outdoor Sport Center. There were the possibilities of climbing, rafting in the river Inn, other water sports and much more. Looking at all the activities I wished to go back to my youth to enjoy it too.

Am Nachmittag fuhren wir zu einem Freizeitsportzentrum außerhalb von Imst. Man konnte Klettern, im Inn Kajak fahren, sowie alle Arten von Wassersport betreiben. Bei so vielen Aktivitäten wünschte ich mir wieder jung zu sein um auch mitmachen zu können.

When we arrived back at the hotel we could join the yearly Kirtag. It's kind of a fair, with music, dance, delicious food, games and just fun. People are wearing their national costumes of the area and it's all very traditional. Female sutlers pour out Schnaps of the small brandy casks. The main beverage is beer, sometimes too much ;-)).

Als wir ins Hotel zurück kamen, konnten wir gleich beim jährlichen Kirtag mitfeiern. Es ist eine Art Dorffest mit Musik, Tanz, Spielen, gutem Essen und einfach Spass. Die Leute tragen die Nationaltracht der Region und es ist alles sehr traditionell. Marketenderinnen gießen aus den kleinen Schnapsfässern dementsprechenden Alkohol aus und das Hauptgetränk ist Bier, das manchmal auch über den Durst getrunken wird ;-)).

Day 3:

The view outside in the morning did not show nice weather, but the program said we are driving up to the Silvretta today. The way up and down was for me scary as always. Unfortunately the weather continued to be foggy and wet, so we made only a short stop to buy souvenirs and take photos. 

Der Blick am Morgen nach draußen verhieß schlechtes Wetter, aber am Programm war der Besuch der Silvretta Hochalpenstraße mit Stausee. Das Hinauf- und Hinunterfahren war für mich fürchterlich, wie immer. Das Wetter bestand weiterhin darauf sich nebelig und nass zu zeigen und daher machten wir nur einen kurzen Halt um Andenken zu kaufen und zu fotografieren.  

Also we made a short stop at the Flexenpass and it's water divide. Meanwhile the cloudy sky cleaned up and it promised sun for the next day. 

Wir hielten auch noch kurz am Flexenpass mit seiner Wasserscheide. Inzwischen hatten sich die Wolken verzogen, was für den nächsten Tag Sonne versprach.

Day 4:

Half of my fellow travellers decided to take the adventure through the Rosegarden canyon inmidst of the town. I refused cause of my health problems. If you want to know more about this small canyon you can search for Rosengartenschlucht or you have to come and see it yourself. While the brave ones were climbing up the rocks, I enjoyed a big cup of ice cream in Hochimst, at the end of the tour. 

Die Hälfte meiner Mitreisenden wagte den Gang durch die Rosengartenschlucht inmitten der Stadt. Ich verzichtete auf die Teilnahme auf Grund meiner Gesundheitsprobleme. Wer mehr über die Besonderheiten dieser Schlucht wissen möchte, kann im Internet danach suchen oder einfach selbst hinfahren. Während die Tapferen die Felsen durchwanderten, erfreute ich mich an einem Riesenbecher Eis in Hochimst, am Ende der Schlucht. 

To my surprise the hotel room had a chair with a back in Art Deco. As it is my favorite style I had to take a picture.

Zu meiner Überraschung hatte der Sessel im Hotelzimmer eine Art Deco Lehne. Da Jugendstil meine bevorzugte Epoche ist, mußte ich ein Foto machen.

Day 5:

Are you still with me to read about the highlight of the trip? 

Very early in the morning we entered our bus to drive to the Hahntennjoch (1894m). Surrounded by glaciers and 8°C we had breakfast in the free nature. Our host had it all organized and so we could enjoy fresh made ham and eggs, coffee and tea, farmer butter, cheese, sausages, yoghurt, cornflakes, fruits, juices and more. Even the scary drive on the small ways was worth that feeling. He brought tables and banks to sit down and sunshades to protect our skins.

Ist noch jemand da um den Höhepunkt des Ausflugs zu erfahren?

Sehr früh am morgen bestiegen wir den Bus um aufs Hahntennjoch (1894m) zu fahren. Bei 8°C, umsäumt von Gletschern, frühstückten wir in der freien Natur. Unser Hotelwirt hatte es organisiert und so hatten wir alles was ein gutes Frühstück braucht. Sogar Bänke, Tische und Sonnenschirme hatte er mitgebracht. Obwohl mich die Fahrt auf der besonders engen und kurvenreichen Straße wieder an den Rand eines Nervenzusammenbruchs gebracht hatte, war es dieses Erlebnis wert. 

After this impressing Breakfast we went along the river Inn and then up to the Zugspitze in Germany. The sky was more than blue and we could enjoy a lovely warm day. I even got a little sunburn on my nose. The use of the cable car to get up to the point in 10 minutes was for all of us too expensive ( 60 Euro ). A few of us took a boat trip at the Eibsee and others made a pause and had lunch. At the way back we touched the Chiemsee, saw the Fernstein Castle and got prepared to leave the mountains and the wonderful sights the next day. 

Nach diesem eindrucksvollen Frühstück fuhren wir entlang dem Inn und dann Richtung Zugspitze. Der Himmel war kitschig blau und wir konnten einen herrlichen Sonnentag geniessen. Ich bekam sogar ein wenig Sonnenbrand auf meiner Nasenspitze. Die Gelegenheit mit der Seilbahn in 10 Minuten auf die Spitze zu fahren, war uns allen für 60 Euro zu teuer. Ein paar von uns machten eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Eibsee, der Rest macht eine Pause und ging Mittagessen. Am Weg zurück streiften wir den Chiemsee, sahen das Fernstein Schloss und blickten mit Wehmut auf die Berge und die wundervolle Aussicht zurück.

The last evening ended with music and dance until midnight. Here is a last picture to show the admirable landscape and to say Goodbye until next time.

Der letzte Abend endete mit Musik und Tanz bis Mitternacht. Hier ist noch ein letztes Bild dieser bewundernswerten Landschaft. Auf Wiedersehen bis zum nächsten Besuch.
