Matroschka Bags

I have not posted for a while due to lack of time. Although I did a lot of sewing and quilting. One of my latest projects were the Posh Bags by Needle & Anchor.

Ich habe aus Mangel an Zeit für eine Weile nichts geschrieben. Trotzdem habe ich eine Menge genäht. Eines meiner letzten Projekte waren die Posh Bags von Needle & Anchor.

After my first trio I couldn't stop and had to make another one. Be aware they are addicting to do.

Nach meinem ersten Trio konnte ich nicht aufhören und musste sofort noch weitere nähen. Achtung, das Nähen dieser Täschchen macht süchtig.

The Bag Mania continues

The Bag Bug really did his work in biting me. Some day in August I had the idea to use one of my DH's shirts for a bag, to remember him. Said, done. The fabric was not the best one to work with, it frayed like crazy, but I was very satisfied with the result. I even put the shirt label again in.

Der Taschen Virus hat mich wirklich hart getroffen. Eines Tages im August hatte ich die Idee ein Hemd meines verstorbenen Ehemanns für eine Tasche zu verwenden. Gesagt, getan. Der Stoff war nicht gerade die beste Wahl, denn er franste wie wild, dennoch war ich mit dem Ergebnis sehr zufrieden. Sogar die Hemdmarke habe ich wieder ins Futter genäht. 

No month without a new bag. When I saw the pattern by Shamballa Bags I had to have and try it. I learned a new technique, how to put a zipper pocket in by using a piece of leather, and I liked it. 

Kein Monat ohne neue Tasche. Als ich die Anleitung von Shamballa Bags sah, musste ich sie haben und ausprobieren. Dabei lernte ich wie man eine Zipptasche mit Hilfe eines Lederstreifens einnäht und es gefiel mir. 

Cause I liked the pattern, which gives the possibility to showcase a center piece, the next bag was soon in work. This time I ventured to use Linen and Alcantara and embroidered the butterflies. Now and then it was tricky to sew and I would not recommend it to a beginner. Also fixing rivets through the thickness of the fabrics was an adventure. Although I'll make another bag for sure. 

Da mir diese Tasche mit dem besonderen Mittelstück sehr gefiel, war das nächste Stück bald in Arbeit. Ich wagte mich daran Leinen und Alcantara zu verwenden und stickte die Schmetterlinge. Hie und da war es etwas nervig zu nähen und ich würde diese Materialien einem Anfänger nicht empfehlen. Auch das Anbringen der Nieten durch die vielen dicken Lagen war ein Abenteuer. Trotzdem werde ich sicher noch mehr von diesen Taschen nähen.

Hit by the Bag Bug

Looks like I got hit by the bag bug. Another reason could be the faster finish of a bag than a quilt. Anyway I enjoy it. 
First I got into sewing the Lunch Bag by Pink Penguin, where you can find the free tutorial.

Es sieht so aus als ob ich mir den Taschen-Nähvirus eingefangen habe. Vielleicht beruht meine neue Begeisterung aber auch auf der Tatsache, dass eine Tasche schneller genäht ist, als ein Quilt. Egal, ich habe einfach Freude daran.
Als erstes stand die Lunch Bag von Pink Penguin auf dem Programm. Eine freie Anleitung gibt es auf deren Webseite.

A Big Girls Need

Now it's resized to get all the stuff in a girl needs. This time I added a rounded flap and a piping to the outside pockets. 

Es geht doch. Die Tasche ist jetzt größer um all das benötigte Zeug, das Frau dringend braucht, hinein zu packen. Diesmal ist der Verschluss rund und die Außentaschen haben einen Paspelrand.

A Girls Need

The Pattern says to make this tote in 20 minutes, excluding the cutting. A big challenge to give it a try. To my astonishment it worked out. Because I added a few extras like an inside zipper pocket, 2 more pockets and the closure flap it took me a bit longer. But for those who are on the look out for a quick project, I can fully recommend it. BTW, the most time I spent deciding for the fabrics.

Die Anleitung verspricht, dass die Tasche in 20 Minuten genäht ist, ausgenommen das Zuschneiden. Eine große Herausforderung, die ich zu prüfen hatte. Zu meinem Erstaunen war es wirklich möglich. Ich brauchte zwar etwas länger, da ich ein paar Extras hinzufügte, wie z.B. innen eine Zipptasche und außen die Verschlussklappe. Aber falls jemand ein schnelles Projekt sucht, kann ich es voll empfehlen.
Übrigens die längste Zeit brauchte ich für die Auswahl der Stoffe.

Snappy Bag

On Pinterest I found a tutorial how to sew a Snappy Bag. It looked interesting and I wanted to try it out immediately. Unfortunately I couldn't find a metal measuring tape in the toolbox and had to go to the DIY store to buy one. From now nothing could stop me. 

Auf Pinterest fand ich eine Anleitung, wie man ein Schnapptäschchen näht. Da es mich interessierte, wollte ich es gleich ausprobieren. Leider konnte ich in der Werkzeugkiste kein Metallmaßband finden und mußte daher zuerst zum Baumarkt um eines zu kaufen. Jetzt hielt mich nichts mehr auf.

The first piece I made following the tutorial, but I didn't like the wide cuff. For the next one I shortened the cuff and made the baggy smaller to keep the proportions. Although I was still not happy with the raw edge I had to hem with a zig zag. So for the third piece it took me a bit of testing until I found the solution to get a neat inside without any hand sewing. Project successful finished!

Beim ersten Stück folgte ich der Anleitung, aber mir gefiel der breite Oberteil nicht. Beim nächsten Stück verschmälerte ich sowohl das Oberteil als auch die Breite des Täschchens um die Proportionen beizubehalten. Aber ich konnte mich noch immer nicht mit der inneren, mit einem Zickzack Stich versäuberten Naht, abfinden. Also probierte ich beim dritten Mal andere Möglichkeiten, bis ich die Lösung für eine saubere Innennaht fand ohne einen Saum mit der Hand nähen zu müssen. Projekt gelungen!
