My work of last week. The idea to this quilt I found in the projects at Advanced Embroidery, from where I also got the file for the tree. I modified the instructions without loosing the particular pattern.
Meine Arbeit von letzter Woche. Die Idee zu diesem Quilt fand ich in den Projekten von Advanced Embroidery, von wo ich auch die Stickvorlage für den Baum habe. Obwohl ich mich nicht ganz an die Anleitung hielt, vermied ich es viel am vorgegebenen Muster zu ändern.
For the background I chose again a fabric napkin and embroidered the tree. Next step was to add batting and backing for quilting. All over stippling, getting smaller towards the center.
Für den Hintergrund nahm ich wieder eine Stoffserviette und stickte den Baum auf. Als nächstes kam Vlies und Rückseite dazu um zu quilten. Ein einfaches Meandermuster, zur Mitte hin schmäler werdend.
There was a Fat Quarter sitting in a drawer for years, now matching perfect in color and pattern. I cut out a 4 inch frame and fused double stick web to the backside. On the paper side I made a rough sketch of squares and rectangles.
Seit Jahren lag ein Fat Quarter in der Schublade, der nun, sowohl in Farbe als auch Muster, perfekt passte. Ich schnitt einen 10 cm Rahmen aus und bügelte auf die Rückseite Vliesofix. Auf der Papierseite zeichnete ich die ungefähre Lage der Quadrate und Rechtecke ein.
Now it was time to cut the frame apart, taking care to have the pieces fit again into the marked 4 inch frame.
Nun war es an der Zeit den Rahmen zu zerteilen, allerdings so, dass die Teile wieder in den vorgezeichneten 10 cm Rahmen passten.
All fused and stitched down with a straight stitch - Raw Edge Applique. Satisfied with the result I could put the binding on (after squaring it up). Finally the quilt got a sleeve and label on the back and is now hanging in my hall.
Alles aufgebügelt und mit einem Geradstich aufgenäht - rohe Kanten Applikation. Zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis bekam der Quilt noch eine Einfassung, sowie Tunnel und Schild auf der Rückseite. Jetzt hängt er in meinem Vorzimmer und ich kann mich jeden Tag daran erfreuen.
